Raggy Dolls v BRFC Select 15 - Match date
was Sunday 19th February 2012, 1.00pm kick off on the piches behind the
Blandford School with the entertainment continuing in the Clubhouse
afterwards.
This year's event was to raise funds for The Friends of
Blandford Community Hospital with the girls team captain, Sylvia Fife, and for
the boys Angus (Gus) Rodgers. Both sides having had intensive training over a
number of weeks, the girls now knew which way to run and the boys how to tackle
without damaging their makeup.
On a bright clear afternoon, with plenty
of spectators to cheer the teams on, battle commenced. A thrilling match
followed and you can catch up with all the action by looking at the photo
albums from the day.

Serving the community
since 1948 The Friends organisation was founded in 1948 and continues
to serve the Community and Hospital. They are a registered charity committed to
supporting patients and former patients of Blandford Community Hospital and
others within the local community who are sick, convalescent, disabled,
handicapped, infirm or in need of assistance and generally to support the
hospital in delivering excellent standards of treatment and care. They are also
part of the Dorset network of Leagues of Friends and affiliated to Attend, The
National Association of Friends.
Their membership, currently
approximately 1000 members, also provides a representative voice in local
healthcare matters and this is of course of utmost importance at present in
view of the imminent radical changes to the delivery of healthcare.
